Vitamins
Making sure the body has the right nutrition is an important part of treating disease and preventing it in the first place. The best way to get adequate nutrition is through a good diet, and eating well is a fundamental part of good health. Unfortunately a lot of the soil we grow our food in has been heavily farmed and become depleted of minerals. This is reflected in the mineral and nutrient content of the food you eat. Your plan may include some vitamin and mineral supplements to make up for dietary insufficiencies and to support your optimal health.
Herbal Medicine
Herbal medicine is also a fundamental part of naturopathic medicine and may be part of your treatment plan. This can be given in the form of pills, tinctures (liquid extracts), or even loose herbs to be made into teas. There are a few herbs that are given specifically for their vitamin and mineral content, like Burdock or Nettles, but generally herbs are given for their medicinal action. There is a wide range of well-studied herbs that are useful in conditions ranging from diabetes, to high blood pressure, anxiety, and depression. They aren’t as well-known as their pharmaceutical counterparts because they don’t have large marketing budgets pushing for their use, but in many cases they can be just as effective as drugs with fewer side effects.
Homeopathy
Homeopathy is another modality that we like to use. Homeopathic remedies are highly diluted plant, animal, or mineral substances. When they are diluted, they are succussed (shaken), which seems to change the structure of the water. Studies continue to show how effective homeopathy is, even though we don’t know how homeopathy works. Homepathic remedies are given based on your constitution, meaning they are given based on who you are as a unique person.
When given correctly, supplements can be an important part of maintaining good health and supporting the body’s recovery from disease.
High Quality Supplements
It’s important to know that the supplements you take contain what they claim to have, otherwise you may just be taking sawdust or some other filler, even worse they may be contaminated with bacteria or heavy metals. We work with a distributor who only carries brands that have gone through a rigorous testing and certification process, so you know they are safe. We also promise to not oversell you on supplements. You will never walk away with a list of ten supplements you need to take. Your treatment plan will likely include a few supplements, but will be individually tailored to you and your specific health concerns.
